Release Specialist
The Release Specialist within the Quality Assurance team helps drive the process of release management that involves 1st party submissions, content ratings, performance testing, and compliance for platforms and territories. This includes working with the Freedom Games Publishing Quality Assurance team, which includes Certification, Compatibility, and Live QA.
The position operates within the Freedom Games Technology team, which also includes Central Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Developer Support. Freedom Games wants each Developer we work with to feel that their games are operated and maintained with the utmost respect for their investment and time into their games while providing the best product for our customers.
What you’ll do
Provide in-depth discipline expertise and support to development teams on console certification and submission requirements, best practices, and timelines
Work closely with our platform engineering team, and external partners, for releasing central platform updates to all of our developer clients
Establish and maintain strong relationships with the submissions and certification teams at our distribution platform partners
Coordinate with internal and external teams to resolve any issues related to submission, certification, compliance, or general release
Manage territory rating requirements and processes based on selected release territories
Work with Freedom Games operations management and QA teams to plan for how and when the certification and submissions protocols will fit into Developers’ roadmap
Coordinate with external QA partners to help with Publishing QA needs
Work with partners and stakeholders to utilize, improve and manage our external testing hardware lab
What we need
Previously held a position as a QA Lead or Release Manager on a multi-platform console game
Experience managing a game from a pre-certification pass to a fully certified release through both Sony and Microsoft’s ecosystems; Nintendo Switch a plus
Deep understanding of console certification, submission requirements, waivers, various distribution platform web portals and processes
Familiarity with territory rating and compliance requirements and processes such as the ESRB, PEGI, USK, and CERO
Experience managing live incidents and troubleshooting technical issues on a live service game is a huge plus
Knowledge of distribution platform capabilities such as Steam, Xbox or PlayStation store, including usage and configurations of their respective developer portals
Familiarity of the Mobile distribution platform capabilities such as Apple iTunes Connect and the Google Play store, including usage and configurations of their respective developer portals
Knowledge of game development tools such as console devkits, Perforce, and build tools
Detail oriented with strong project management and organizational skills
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Relationship management - experience building and maintaining external partnerships
Self-motivated with experience working independently
